Why does CEvNS matter?
CEvNS is a process that is well-understood within the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. This makes CEvNS a sensitive probe to beyond-SM physics. A measurement in agreement with the prediction will increase our confidence in the correctness of the SM. By contrast, any discrepancy with the SM prediction could be an indication of new physics such as non-standard neutrino interactions or electromagnetic neutrino properties.
The CEvNS process is also a probe of nuclear structure and is also incredibly important in understanding the dynamics of supernovae explosions. Finally, CEvNS has a potential use for nuclear reactor monitoring as the conventional monitoring methods may be less successful for the next generation of nuclear reactors. Visit NUTOOLS
